Today's forecast: BIG groundswell 5m @14secs but wind dropping off very rapidly. So we were up at the crack of dawn...again...and at Gowlane just after 8am. The waves there looked incredible. At least double the size of yesterday's, clean and in clear sets that were seperated by up to 2-3 minute gaps. The wind was howling too from a perfect cross-with-a-smidge-of-off direction so the 4.0 was rigged in haste. I planed off the beach no problemo but into a big lull right in the impact zone. Got worked. Changed up to 5.2 and woohoo made it out back on the first attempt YES YES YES. Really nice first wave, big (logo+ was the call from those watching on the beach) and clean, allowing three full power bottom and top turns before it closed out. Proper wavesailing at last. Thank feck I've scored having come all this way. :)

The next run out was more troublesome as the wind was really dropping off but from nowhere a lucky gust got me out back again. My second wave wasn't so good. Equally big but a choppier close out allowing two turns then back to the beach. And that was it for the day. I tried a few more times to sail out but the wind had dropped to almost nothing. It was a real shame that more of those waves couldn't have been sailed but nevertheless I was sooo chuffed to have scored even if it was only two rides. I would have been really disappointed to travel this far and not sample what Brandon Bay can offer.
